Housed in a picturesque brewery building, the Brewery Arts Centre has been a hub for high-quality cinema, stage-on-screen, music, comedy, and spoken word in Kendal and the region for over 40 years. More recently, the Brewery Arts Centre has started to offer a programme of lessons in creative learning, too.

A recent refurbishment programme adds a state of the art two-screen cinema with giant screens, plus a ‘digital lounge’ for immersive film and gaming experiences. There is also a music production studio with a full suite of top of the range equipment. This allows the Brewery to host a series of residencies, workshops, and courses. These run the gamut from Afro-Brazilian dance to am-dram theatre productions and courses in film and languages. Whether you’re looking to learn something new yourself or for somewhere to send the kids for artistic edification, the Brewery Arts Centre has you covered.

Musical acts that have performed at the centre include Tim Burgess, Mystery Jets, and BC Camplight, alongside local artists and people that are going to be huge. The cinema puts on arthouse films from all around the world and is a great place to catch cutting edge productions. They also specialise in stage on screen, giving access to world-class theatre and dance beamed direct to Kendal.

The existing restaurant and bar have also been improved. There is always something amazing happening at the Brewery, so creative tourists should make it a priority to visit on their trip to Kendal.

The Brewery Arts Centre has its own car park and is located in the centre of Kendal, Cumbria. Nearby, you will find the wonderful Kendal Museum, which is sure to complement the contemporary offerings at the Brewery. There’s also the River Kent, which makes a great picturesque walk, and crossing a bridge will get you to Kendal Castle.
