The Invisible Wind Factory is a 1500-capacity converted warehouse that’s got a gravitational pull for great touring artists, while acting as creative playground for multidisciplinary collaborations and experimental projects.

From the good people behind the Kazimier Garden and Stockroom, IWF is a separate yet parallel artistic endeavour. “In essence, it’s an artist-driven space and production company,” reveals team member Liam Naughton, “combining disciplines in design, electronics, lighting and audio production, wood and metal construction, all woven together to create something unique.”

Set in an former wind turbine factory (cue the penny drop) on the historic docklands of the River Mersey, The Invisible Wind Factory can be found roughly halfway between the suitably windswept Albert Dock tourist attraction and the largely undeveloped Huskisson Dock, highlighting an interesting conflict in Liverpool between the derelict and the gentrified.

Artists to have graced the stage of the IWF include Example, Peaches, Fat White Family, Ride and The Orielles, as well as club nights from the likes of Chibuku, 2manydjs, Fiesta Bombarda and ENRG.

In addition to the Invisible Wind Factory venue, this building is home to the IWF Rollerdrome, Substation, Factory Garden, Factory Kitchen, Workshop and Studios, but for industrial-scale spectacles, IWF is where it’s at.
