The Wardrobe

Located in the city’s Art Quarter, neighbouring Leeds College of Music and BBC Yorkshire, The Wardrobe has been contributing to Leeds’ rich live music offering since its opening in 1999.
The ground floor is a bar, kitchen and occasional event space, while its dedicated event space in the basement is a cosy room with a jazzy vibe. Bands including The Herbaliser, Asian Dub Foundation and Ellie Dixon can be found on its gig calendar, while DJs Trevor Nelson and Craig Charles regularly host club nights at The Wardrobe. The venue also promotes regular comedy nights, music talks, and more.
Over the years, it has played host to some big name acts like Amy Winehouse (during her infamous 2006 Back to Black tour), Charles Bradley, and Roy Ayers. The Wardrobe has always championed up and coming talents as well as established artists, and famously hosted household names such as George Ezra, Catfish & The Bottlemen, and Lewis Capaldi during the early stages of their career. Additionally, it also welcomed TV comedy favourite Sarah Pascoe, and Bristolian post-punk band Idles to grace its stage.
A fixture on Leeds’ live music and comedy scene for over twenty years.
Other notable acts to have performed at The Wardrobe in the past include: Corinne Bailey Rae, Beverly Knight, Tony Allen, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Julian Marley, The New JBs, Breakestra, Acoustic Ladyland, Polar Bear, The Bad Plus, Robert Glasper, Soweto Kinch, Jazzanova, Terri Callier, Arrested Development, Alice Russell, Autechre, Jerry Bergonzi, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Spearhead, Brian Auger, Gwen McCrae, Kate Rusby, Linton Kwesi Johnson, The Mighty Diamonds, Bernard Purdy, Fertile Ground, Sly & Robbie, Haggis Horns, Dwele, Youngblood Brass Band, and Theo Parrish.
A fixture on Leeds’ live music and comedy scene for over twenty years. The Wardrobe is a staple gig venue, nightclub, and bar for any self respecting music lovers. Hosting an eclectic roster of live music shows, club nights, and other events, it is one of the city’s longest established venues – having first opened in 1999. Inside, it’s the epitome of industrial chic. Combining a popular street level cafe and bar, where you can enjoy drinks and light bites, and a moody basement club reminiscent of sultry New York jazz clubs, it’s certainly unique.
Family-owned and run, The Wardrobe can be relied on for a near-nightly roster of exciting live music shows platforming the very best jazz, funk, and soul in the North, as well as a good selection of local and imported drinks behind its bar. Stop in for a wine or a cocktail, or pick up a ticket for one of its famous shows, and enjoy the best that Leeds has to offer.
