The Sculpture Gallery

Owned and run by a group of six talented sculptors, this impressive gallery features a myriad of beautiful pieces shaped out of everything from stone to wood, clay, and more. Showcasing work from its collective of owners alongside pieces from carefully selected guest artists, the unique space is set inside the beautiful Corn Exchange and can be found in the heart of Leeds city centre.
The Sculpture Gallery has been purpose built to display 3D art to its prime, and inside you’ll find a myriad of black and white, angular podiums topped with fascinating pieces. Located at the top of the Corn Exchange, an elegant Grade I listed building, like many exciting new arrivals to the city in the past few years it was born out of an idea in the pandemic and has continued to flourish ever since.
Founded by Yorkshire sculptors PJ Donnelly, David Iredale, Mandy Long, Steve Williams, Keith Ackernan, and Drew Caines, the relatively young gallery has already established strong connections with the wider community and regularly welcomes displays from guest artists located across the north of England. It is run by a cooperative of like minded individuals who all share the time, cost and considerable pride of owning and running their own gallery, something that really shines through when you visit.
Not only can you view and purchase pieces here, directly supporting local makers, but you also get the pleasure of speaking with the creators directly in the gallery. Offering its artists the perfect balance between creating work and having a space to exhibit and sell it, The Sculpture Gallery makes a wonderful contribution to this lively and innovative corner of Leeds city centre.
The Sculpture Gallery sits alongside a community of other quirky creative shops and spaces inside Leeds’ Corn Exchange, including the reworked vintage fashion boutique Chinese Laundry, bespoke framing and print shop On The Wall, self care sanctuary Studio Dawn, and local Leeds florist Attic In Bloom. Home to a collective of quirky, independently minded shops, The Corn Exchange is widely considered an iconic city landmark and for good reason. The good people of Leeds have been exchanging goods beneath its dome for decades, and long may it continue.
