The Decanter

One of Leeds’ most stylish bars, The Decanter is one for the winos – or, as we prefer to call ourselves, ‘wine-lovers’. Located in the city’s financial district, the space is all exposed brickwork, mahogany and plush seating, not to mention (as you might expect) some excellent wine.
Serving up a beautiful selection of wines from around the world, on the menu you’ll find all the usual suspects as well as a few surprises. Spanning white, red, rosé, sparkling, orange and organic wines, the choice is vast – but The Decanter’s friendly and knowledgeable team are always on hand to guide you, should you require a bit of help in making your selection.
As well as wines, the bar also has a list of beers on draught and in cans, with selections from local breweries like Black Sheep, Kirkstall and Virtuous sitting alongside international favourites such as Madri, Birra Moretti, and Guinness. If that doesn’t take your fancy, it also serves a short list of classic cocktail favourites including Kir Royale, Margarita, Mai Tai, Negroni, Pornstar Martini, Negroni, and Long Island Iced Tea.
Homemade cheese and charcuterie plates.
With all that drinking, you’re likely to want something to nibble on as you go. Thankfully, they’ve thought of that too: dishing up tasty little bar snacks as well as homemade cheese and charcuterie plates. Snack on almonds, crisps, pistachios, olives, and more from the Bar Snack menu, or go the whole hog and opt for one of the famous house boards, loaded with expertly chosen meat and cheese selections.
Cheese and charcuterie plates are build-your-own, giving guests the chance to hand select their favourites from a carefully curated list. Pick from the likes of Dorset smoked, Harrogate blue, Manchego, Fountains Gold, and Dutch goats cheese, to make your perfect plate. As for meats, enjoy favourites like chorizo, jamon serrano, salami milano, prosciutto crudo, and Tuscan coppa.
Established itself as a go-to for great wine in Leeds.
All served with crackers, caramelised red onion chutney, and mixed nuts, opt for a straight cheese plate, a charcuterie platter, or enjoy a mixture of both. Or, if you really want to push the boat out, book in for one of the bar’s popular bottomless brunches on a Saturday afternoon to enjoy a cheese and charcuterie platter with 90 minutes of free-flowing Prosecco, house wine, Aperol Spritz, draught lager or cider for £35pp.
First established in 2014, Decanter has long established itself as a go-to for great wine in Leeds. The bar also offers expertly guided wine tastings for groups of six upwards, which are available to book privately. Simply put: if you like wine, then you’ll love Decanter.
