The Civic is a multipurpose theatre and art gallery based in Barnsley, which presents world-class accessible performances and exhibitions throughout the year.

The original Civic was built as a Public Hall by Charles Harvey in 1877. In 1962 the Hall became Barnsley Civic Theatre, a traditional Proscenium arch theatre seating 800 people and attracting some of the biggest names in show business to the town, including Charlie Williams and Ken Dodd.

The remodelled building and site reopened to the public in 2009 and now includes a 384-seat performance space, a design led gallery and a range of spaces available for meetings, workshops, functions and events. It also has a café, bar and brasserie.
