The Spa at Manor House Alsager

Earlier this year, the Manor House in Alsager extended its outdoor spa area by 36 square metres, describing the new area as a “secret garden”.
It has much in common with the 1911 novel. The pastoral surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, full of wildlife and ripe for rejuvenating even the most jaded spirit. Happily, unlike the book, pesky kids aren’t allowed, and there are two — count ‘em — swim-up bars. Win-win.
Few pleasures in life come close to sipping a Pink Gin Fizz in a sunkissed pool. (Maybe grumpy cousin Colin should have given that a go instead.) Fear not, if the sun doesn’t have his hat on, the spa makes clever use of clear canopies and subtle heating to give a constant summertime feel.
You’d be forgiven for spending all day drinking poolside, but the list of things to do is endless. In the outdoor section of the spa alone, there’s a Finnish sauna (pegged at 80 °c) with Himalayan salt wall, greenhouse lounges, a sensory herb garden, a cascading cold‑water plunge and much more.
Go with a partner, a parent or simply take a solo trip to wind down and reboot. You’ll find everyone to be friendly, but there’s no risk of being pestered.
The indoor spa offers a 15‑metre glass‑roofed serenity pool with hydrotherapy jets, a salt‑steam chamber, potting‑shed herbal sauna, and a communal vitality pool heated to around 38 °C. There’s also a panoramic laconium and an adjoining gym.
A massage is a must. For unabashed luxury, the Tribe517 pure salt grain massage is an intoxicating combination of aroma, texture and deep, deep serenity. It’s basically womblike, minus the amniotic fluid and all that stuff.
You could spend a week at the spa at Manor House and still find new ways to relax. Inside or outdoors, this could be the most relaxing space in Cheshire.
