Just a ten-minute drive from Crewe within Reaseheath College is Reaseheath Mini Zoo, home to a wonderful collection of animals including meerkats, monkeys, rabbits and reptiles.

If you’re looking for a large zoo with acres of animal enclosures, look elsewhere. If you want to visit a mini zoo with a very low price and free parking, this is the place. Reaseheath Mini Zoo has a brilliant bijou collection of beasts which you can enjoy via a range of activities, including keeper talks, animal encounters and meet and greets.

All of the animals have their own personalities. Meet Diego the blue tegu, George the python, and Ross, the large hairy armadillo. There’s a beautiful trio of African crested porcupines called Pip, Snuffet and Mouse, and a family of Asian short-clawed otters. There are ring-tailed lemurs, red-necked wallaby, Guernsey goats and a Welsh mountain pony.

Feathered friends include birds of prey, owls, kookaburra, love birds, zebra finch, java doves and golden pheasant. You’ll see Roti island snake-necked turtles, Amazonian milk frogs, savu island pythons and yellow headed day geckos. There are also lionfish, angel fish, Buenos Aires catfish and a unique coral reef system, not forgetting a colony of leaf cutter ants, giant Asian mantis, Indian social spiders and tiger snails.

If your budget permits then book a meet and greet in advance and get up close and personal with some of the world’s most amazing animals behind the scenes. Our favourite is the South American Encounter including Timmy the Brazilian tapir, plus capybara and alpaca. Animal encounters cost £50 per person, £85 for two people or £150 for a family ticket.

Visitors only have access to Reaseheath Mini Zoo outside of term time, so make sure you check before leaving home. Admission is £6 for adults, £5 for children and concessions. Discounted family tickets are available and children under three go free. Plan on one to two hours for your visit.
