Ox Club at Headrow House

Housed inside a former textile mill tucked back in one of Leeds’ historic yards, the award-winning restaurant Ox Club is famous for its live, open-fire cooking, and carefully sources some of the finest ingredients in Yorkshire for its menus. Serving up dishes defined by bold, exciting flavours, it has been recommended by the prestigious Michelin Guide for eight years in a row.
Serving up an a la carte menu of regularly-changing small and large plates throughout the week, expect to find artfully curated dishes that celebrate the very best of the seasons and the local area. Think Harewood venison kofta with sour cherry glaze and flatbread, crispy pig tails with gochujang and sesame, and a rare breed pork chop with tajin, pineapple & chipotle ketchup.
Opt for nibbles, a handful of small plates, and perhaps a large plate to share – such as the 1 kg Côte de boeuf with peppercorn sauce, and salsa verde. Then, if you’ve room, finish things off with a burnt Basque cheesecake, or a Baked Alaska. Bear in mind the menu on the website is just a sample, as dishes change regularly here to make the most of the freshest product chefs can get their hand on.
As well as its popular A La Carte offering, Ox Club also serves a cracking Sunday roast menu widely considered one of the best in Leeds. Think roast rump cap of beef with bone marrow and shallot gravy, N’duja porchetta, or smoked celeriac and artichoke for mains, accompanied by sides of smoked mash, grilled hispi cabbage, and truffled cauliflower cheese. Puddings and sides, meanwhile, are generally taken from the a la carte list that week.
First established in 2016, Ox Club sits within the complex of Headrow House: a four storey, multi-use venue that’s also home to a huge ground level beer hall, an events space, and two suntrap rooftop terrace bars.
An experience not to be missed, this fantastic restaurant inside Headrow House is one of the best in Leeds. The team here are proud champions of local and regional producers, with meat supplied by small family-run farms in North Yorkshire, fish sourced in the North Sea, and fresh fruit and veg from specialist supplier Wellocks.
Appearing in both the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide for 2018, Thomas Hunter’s Ox Club is a restaurant for high quality food, cooking only the finest Yorkshire produce.
