It’s that time of year again, the Christmas Markets are in full swing and slowly but surely the city centre is being consumed by shoppers. What better reason to venture further out and enjoy the seasonal festivities at Salford Quays. This year for the first time Media City will become home to a five hundred square foot ice rink.

The rink is open now till the 5th January 2020, with skate sessions happening every day. You always see the same characters, the newbie who can’t let go of the side, the child who is determined to make it round whilst clutching onto a plastic penguin or that friend who did a few years figure skating in their teens and neglected to tell anyone until they leave you in their slipstream. Whichever sounds most familiar there’s no activity that’ll get you more into the holiday spirit. If you go at the right time, you may also be treated to live music whilst slicing the ice.

Just next to the rink in the MediaCityUK Piazza, pagodas are lining the square, forming the Media City Christmas market. Expect tasty treats, both savory and sweet as well as all the usual festive beverages. Enjoy these whilst soaking up the more chilled atmosphere of the Quays and live music. It’s an ideal way to unwind after the thrill of the Ice Rink.
