Since opening in late 2016, Jöro has made a big impact on the Sheffield food scene. The recipient of a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin inspectors, three AA rosettes and a string of acclaimed reviews from some hardened food critics, Jöro offers the very best Yorkshire-sourced produce and an exceptional wine menu.

Owned by a husband-and-wife team, Managing Director Stacey Sherwood-French and Chef Director Luke French, Jöro (which means ‘Earth’ in Old Norse) is made entirely from upcycled shipping containers on the ground floor of Krynkl in Kelham Island. Tucked away inside, you’ll find some of England’s best chefs cooking up some of the most modern and inventive food, wholly reflective of the stunning countryside around it. Where possibly before, you had to travel out of the city to experience fine dining, now, Sheffield has Jöro.

With seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, precisely prepared and given an international twist, every plate is simply showcased, and lovingly prepared by helpful, knowledgeable staff. Cosy, welcoming with tasteful, minimalist Scandinavian decor, the restaurant offers a daily changing menu, specialising in small plates and a superb wine menu offering pairings from internationally acclaimed and award-winning vineyards. Of course, you have the option of a five, eight or ten-course tasting menu too.

A busy image created using generative AI. The image depicts a man at the centre with grey hair and rosy cheeks, surrounding him are fairies that appear to be created in his own image with multiple limbs and unique bodily proportions. Around them are hundreds of vials, microscopes and dated scientific equipment.
