Fancy trying a new creative activity? Give pottery painting a go at the friendly Frankie’s Paint-It Pottery in South Liverpool.

Set up by Frances who was born and raised in Liverpool (called Frankie by her parents as a child, which inspired the name), who went through quite a journey before settling down back up North, Frankie’s Paint-It Pottery is a place to relax and exercise your creativity in a calm environment. Frances originally trained as a Radio Officer for the Merchant Navy, before retraining to become a science teacher and eventually moving back to Liverpool and starting up the pottery studio. Having completed pottery courses herself, Frances understood the calming effect of the technique and wanted to share it with others.

Frankie’s Paint-It Pottery offers visits for individuals and small groups, with set times for morning, early and late afternoon table sessions, all of which are two hours long. It’s best to book in advance to avoid disappointment, but you can pop in and see if there’s a spot available on the day. You’ll have a range of pottery items to choose from and the price depends on the size and weight of what you choose. The range is always being updated too, so you can come back and find something new to add to your collection. The cost covers the underglazes, equipment, glazing and firing, plus the prices of the pottery you choose to paint.

That’s not all: you can book pottery painting experiences as part of a stag or hen dos, team-building events, schools and larger groups and children’s parties. Worried you can’t paint? Not a problem – there will be help on hand and you can even use stencils to create your design!

Afterwards you can take a stroll up Smithdown Road, an increasingly hip area where among the students are pubs you’ll find lots of independent businesses, like the lovely Dead Ink Books as well as cafés and cute restaurants.
