For any romantics out there, The Embassie Backpackers hostel is located in a 200 year old, vintage mansion and was the first hostel in Liverpool. Located in the leafy Georgian Quarter, it’s about 10 minutes away from the city centre and surrounded by other beautiful houses.

Interestingly, the building has even more history – up until 1986, the mansion was the Consulate of Venezuela. Today, it’s a friendly hostel run by two Kevins (father and son), both of whom are passionate about making the backpacking experience as comfortable and fun as possible, based on their own travels.

Facilities include free breakfast (a rare and lovely treat!) free wi-fi, a shared kitchen, dining room and communal hang-out area. Rooms range in size with mostly larger dorms, but small double rooms are also available if you’d rather have your own space. Mixed and female-only dorms are available too. Perfect for groups, the ethos of Embassie Backpackers makes for a pleasant stay in a very beautiful part of the city.

You’ll be close to Liverpool’s central attractions, whether you’re after shopping, culture, clubbing, or a bit of everything.

This season’s theatre is gloriously eclectic: from radical cabaret and reinvented classics to new musicals and boundary-pushing performance.

Music in the North

10 fresh shows across Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, threading together noise, ritual, euphoria and release in all their messy, beautiful forms.
