Angelo’s Ristorante is an authentic Italian restaurant in Sunniside, Sunderland. Sunniside has many of the older buildings of Sunderland and was fortunate to avoid much of the damage caused by the developments in the 1960s and 1970’s. Angelo’s itself is within in a Grade II listed building and, as you enter, you will be able to enjoy surroundings that have been carefully restored using the original features of the building, including a rare glass staircase from the 19th century, as well as the original staircases and floorboards.

Describing themselves as Sunderland’s most sophisticated eatery, Angelo’s has reason to hold themselves up to that standard. Their head chef, Nello, won the best Italian Chef in England and in 2015 and 2016 Angelo’s ranked in the top ten Italian restaurants in England. This accolade is considerable and is deserving, as quality is what you will get when you go to Angelo’s. Their food is freshly prepared within the restaurant using the classic and traditional Italian recipes and ingredients which give the best flavours and amazing experience. On top of this, the menu does not stay the same – each week the chefs come together to change the special menu to ensure that customers can get the widest range of Italian flavours and dishes on their visit to Angelo’s. Though tradition is at the heart of Italian cooking, the chefs are not afraid to try something new and use the a la carte menu to add modern twists on the famous flavours that patrons have come to love. Italian’s are not just famous for their food but also the wine that accompanies it. The wine menu has been reviewed by the owners to complement the menu and satisfy the most critical of customers. All these factors have been brought together to ensure that your dining is the best that you could experience during a visit to Angelo’s.
