Join writer and broadcaster Anita Sethi, award-winning author of I Belong Here: A Journey Along the Backbone of Britain, for a free two-hour creative writing workshop overlooking the park.

The session will explore themes of place, nature, journeying – both geographical and emotional journeys – and how writing can bring a sense of belonging. This workshop is filled with practical tools and tips, and you will have time and space to work on writing exercises and share and develop your voice.

Also on the Saturday, taking place throughout the day, Taboos & Untouched Topics is hosted by poet Maya Chowdhury. Join the young people of OSCH (Our Shared Cultural Heritage) for a poetry workshop exploring taboos and untouched topics within South Asian culture and community. This workshop will provide a safe space to discuss and creatively respond to prompts such as mental health, sex, periods and more.

South Asian Heritage Month is running 18 July to 17 August.

The image depicts a man at the centre with grey hair and rosy cheeks, surrounding him are fairies that appear to be created in his own image with multiple limbs and unique bodily proportions. Around them are hundreds of vials, microscopes and dated scientific equipment.
