Calling people of all gender minorities! Write Like a Grrrl is a totally inclusive course for those who are looking to develop their creative writing skills. You won’t be asked to write for large amounts of time, or forced into a particular form or genre. This intensive, affordable and short course is perfect for those wanting to dive into writing for the first time as well as those who have taken a break from writing, and want a supportive environment to help get back into it.

A group to keep you motivated, share ideas with and grow as a writer.

The sessions will take place every Thursday evening between 10 February and 17 March, at Heart in Headingley, Leeds. Whether you want to work on fiction, non-fiction, plays, poems or scripts, Ignite Write Like a Grrrl is for you. There is no pressure to share work or to write large amounts on a weekly basis, all you’re asked to do is be open to learning, listening and developing a practice. You’ll be given the tools to help you push through self doubt and grow your own disciplines and structures to write within. Having a group to keep you motivated, share ideas with and grow as a writer will give you the confidence to write with courage and joy beyond the end of the course.

Supportive environments for writers of any ability, background and ambition.

The sessions will be led by Sara Sherwood. Having graduated from the Manchester Writing School with an MA in Creative Writing, Sara’s short stories have been published by Dead Ink and Bloomsbury and her short story Likes was Highly Commended in the 2018 Bridport Prize. She is now based in Leeds and has a passion for creating supportive environments for writers of any ability, background and ambition.

Don’t be intimidated by the blank page and embrace your literary creativity in 2022.
