Steph Huang’s There is nothing old under the sun comes to Cross Lane Projects following the show first being displayed at esea contemporary, from the multidisciplinary artist and chef.

Wood and Stone, printed smoked glass, mild steel, stone, 26.5 x 23.5 x 140 cm
Steph Huang

Huang is the 21st winner of the 23/24 edition of the Mark Tanner Sculpture Award, the most significant award for emerging UK artists working in the field of sculpture. Her work is a multi-layered exploration of the ethics and history of food production and consumer culture through storytelling with objects. The inspiration for the installations comes from Huang’s travels, her upbringing in Taiwan and her professional experience as a chef, interested in mass production and commerce, and the transcultural and historical dimensions of the food industry.

Materiality is a key focus of Huang’s practice and her broad skill set includes printing, glassblowing, casting, welding and woodwork all of which are showcased in the exhibition.
