The Whiskey Jar in the Northern Quarter pretty much does what it says on the front, seriously good whiskey. You can be confident that in an establishment with such a strong reputation for quality, a whisky festival is going to be nothing but the best. Join them for an afternoon of tasting, talking and live music that embraces the satisfying warming trickle down the back of your throat only a scotch, single malt or bourbon can provide on a winter’s day.

There will always be something you’ll love and something you’ll be surprised to love in the selection of tasters

Over the course of an afternoon, you’ll learn about five measures of contrasting Whiskies in an interactive seminar. Expect to hear about each distillery and how they’ve perfected a centuries old process to create something unique. If you are someone who loves a smooth bourbon but can’t stomach a peaty single malt or the opposite, there will always be something you’ll love and something you’ll be surprised to love in the selection of tasters. After trying the selected whiskies, you’ll also have exclusive access to a discounted menu of whiskies from the bar.

Accompanied by a well curated cheese board and some of the city’s best live music

The tipples will be accompanied by a well-curated cheese board and some of the city’s best live music. Those who’ve ventured down to the bar’s regular open mic night on a Tuesday will be well aware of the musical community surrounding the venue. Songwriters, instrumentalists and bands of all varieties perform at the Whiskey Jar but regardless of genre and instrument, all the performers are top quality musicians and incredibly talented.

Hear some of this talent for yourself whilst embarking on a distilled adventure with the Whisky Festival this January.
