While most ventures wait for the threat of rain to (mostly) pass, the Village Screen takes advantage of the natural shelter offered by Castleton’s Peak Cavern to kick off the outdoor cinema season early this May.

There’s a top line up too, with organisers making the most of the underground ambiance offered by one of the UK’s most spectacular show caves.

Films include Christopher Nolan’s modern cult favourite The Dark Knight (watch out for swooping bats), spelunking horror flick The Descent and teen vampire classic The Lost Boys, scheduled alongside Steven Spielberg’s romping Indiana Jones adventure Raiders of the Lost Ark and ‘70s musical hit The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This is The Pictures with a difference – if the cave-setting wasn’t memorable enough, cinema-goers can also expect pre-show music entertainment, top street food and a full bar to accompany the main event.
