Wake up, look outside and… snow everywhere! This winter, families are invited into a world blanketed in wonder and discovery with the production of The Snowy Day, inspired by Ezra Jack Keats’s beloved picture book and brought to life by Polka Theatre and Can’t Sit Still at Z-arts.

One winter morning, Peter woke up and looked out the window. Snow had fallen during the night. It covered everything as far as he could see. This 30-minute performance created especially for one to four year olds invites little ones and their grown-ups to join a magical adventure. Families can sit and enjoy the show or dance along in a relaxed space. Keats’s The Snowy Day has been loved for generations, known for its gentle storytelling and beautiful collage illustrations that capture the wonder and stillness of a snowy day.

With an intimate setting, a single dancer, original music and a beautifully designed set that evokes the hush of a snowy morning, the production offers a gentle, immersive introduction to theatre. The stay and play session after the performance gives little ones the chance to join in the fun.

Every footstep in the snow feels like a small adventure, every fallen snowflake, a tiny delight. Whether it’s Peter’s footprints, a snowball in your mitten or the quiet softness of winter, the show captures the wonder of seeing the world with fresh eyes. Honouring Keats’s classic, The Snowy Day reminds everyone that even the simplest day can be full of magic.

Running Friday 12th to Tuesday 30th December at Z-arts, this heart-warming festive performance is perfect for families with young children looking to share the joy of storytelling and winter sparkle together.
