This October half-term Tall Stories present a special live-streamed version of their much-loved reimagining of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s classic book The Snail and the Whale.

Join a young adventurer and her seafaring father as they bring the story of a tiny snail’s incredible journey around the world on the tail of a huge humpback whale, to audiences at home.

The snail is one of Donaldson’s most popular characters. So excited by life and determined to find a way to see the world; readers of all ages can identify wistfully with ‘the sea is deep and the world is wide, “how I long to sail” said the tiny snail’; both in terms of seeing the world, and in reaching for your dreams.

A generous grey-blue humpback whale allows her to hitch a lift on its tail and an exciting journey involving sharks, penguins, icebergs and volcanoes follows. Until that is, the whale gets beached and the tiny snail must think of a way to save him.

Recommended for ages four to ten, the charm of this production is that the amazing journey is brought to life through the eyes of a young girl who would like nothing more than to go round the world with her seafaring father. An inspiring reminder to busy families that imagination and creative play is enriching and lots of fun too.

Expect brilliant live music, cracking storytelling, a gorgeous set…and ninja crabs. The show hasn’t been pre-recorded – it’ll be performed live. Anything could happen.
