This summer, join the fantastic Leeds Youth Opera (LYO) as they bring amazing music and fabulous imagination to Leeds with their spectacular production of Seussical Jr – the Musical at Interplay Theatre. The show, taking place on 9 July, launches the Summer Reading Challenge taking place across Leeds.

Seussical the Musical is inspired by worlds we all know and love, created by Dr. Seuss. It brings together characters from over 15 classic Dr. Seuss stories, including the amazing Horton Hears a Who!, The Cat in the Hat, and Green Eggs and Ham. Follow the hilarious Horton the Elephant as he sets out on an adventure to protect the tiny Whos, while the mischievous Cat in the Hat stirs up lots of fun and mischief along the way… what will he get up to this time?!

Expect a fun and memorable event, with gorgeous, colourful sets and props, terrific tunes that make you tap your toes, the classic rythym and rhyme of Dr Seuss’s stories, and at its heart, a lovely message about friendship, loyalty and the power of imagination. It’s also great for learning about sounds, reading, phonics,  (all that educational stuff) in a way that’s subtle and fun for the kids.

It’s a production which offers something for everyone, which makes it the perfect family outing to kick off a summer of reading, creativity and adventure. You’ll be laughing, singing along, and more in this brilliant show – with lots of Seuss-style surprises along the way too!
