The judge of the fifth Poets & Players poetry competition, Michael Symmons Roberts, will be reading his work and announcing the results at this event and introducing the competition winners, and the competition winners will also take to the stage.

Michael Symmons Roberts has won the Forward Prize, the Costa Poetry Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award, and has been shortlisted for the Griffin International Poetry Prize and the T.S. Eliot Prize. His continuing collaboration with composer James MacMillan has led to two BBC Proms choral commissions, song cycles, music theatre works and operas for the Royal Opera House. He has published two novels, and is Professor of Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Preceding the reading event, there will be a creative writing workshop with Forward Prize-nominated poet Steve Ely. More here.
