Held in Salts Mill, the enormous Grade II listed arts complex for which Saltaire is arguably best known, this class is one of several offered by The Stitch Society; an award-winning local company that specialises in stylish durable workwear.

The Stitch Society offers regular dressmaking courses for beginners and more general skills, but this four-week afternoon workshop is designed for those with more experience and who would like to explore their own patterns. It will cover the basic blocks of bodice, sleeve, skirt and trouser; including adjusting these to fit and adding collars, cuffs and other design details.

Salts Mill is an apt place to learn textiles, considering its former use as a cloth mill. We suggest making the most of this workshop’s unique home – now a thriving centre of commerce and creativity home to shops, galleries and dining spaces – perhaps combining it with a bite to eat and a wander round this West Yorkshire landmark.
