Podcast phenomenon No Such Thing As A Fish takes to the road this autumn, with the four QI researchers bringing their treasure trove of brilliantly bizarre facts to Manchester’s Palace Theatre in October.

There’s something very satisfying about learning, and passing on, a great fact. Those nerdy little tidbits you can whip out in the pub and floor your mates with. Well, the heads behind No Such Thing As A Fish have made a career out of these little knowledge nuggets, revelling in the unashamed celebration of nerdiness and the fantastically weird world in which we live.

No Such Thing As A Fish is a weekly podcast in which QI researchers Dan Schreiber, James Harkin, Anna Ptaszynski and Andrew Hunter Murray share the most bizarre, extraordinary and hilarious facts they’ve discovered over the last seven days. A simple concept, but sometimes the simplest ones are the best. These facts spawn hilarious conversations that can lead anywhere, with the spontaneity of standup but the smarts of an earwigged pub discussion between the most enthusiastic of professors.

Since its launch in 2014, No Such Thing As A Fish has become a bonafide cultural phenomenon, amassing 500 episodes, 500 million listens, and a host of awards. The show has also been transformed into the topical BBC2 series No Such Thing As The News; been adapted into three bestselling books; performed live to sell-out crowds around the world; and spawned a no.1 chart-topping, behind-the-scenes documentary Behind The Gills.

So what to expect from the live show? A beautifully-crafted evening of dorky delight, following the format of the podcast but with extra local factlets, and some interactive elements thrown in, too, with opportunities to feed in interesting facts you’ve found yourself. Did you know the the earliest known punishment for illegal parking was being impaled on a stake in your own front yard? Or that the guy who popularised the high five only had four fingers? Best get researching…

From animal oddities to historical head-scratchers and corporate cock-ups, leave with a bellyful of laughs and a back pocket stuffed with the kind of outlandish trivia that’ll spark a bit of life into any conversation.
