Polish your umbrellas because Mary Poppins is flying into the Liverpool Empire Theatre from Wednesday 14 January to Saturday 31 January 2026.

Yes, the world’s most famous nanny (sorry, Nanny McPhee) is visiting Liverpool for a strictly limited run, bringing with her magic, music and that smug, delightful perfection that we all know and love.

This multi award-winning production from Cameron Mackintosh and Disney is based on P.L. Travers’ much-loved stories, and the little Disney film you may have heard of, as Mary swoops into Cherry Tree Lane to whip the chaotic Banks family into shape with songs, sophistication, flying etc.

Expect polished choreography, incredible special effects, and a musical score that contains at least a few songs you probably will have heard of, and demand to be sung all the way home, lying in bed, at school / work the next day, etc, etc. Yes – Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is on the setlist – hurrah! And alongside the classics, there are new numbers from George Stiles and Anthony Drewe to keep things fresh.

Leading this amazing show are Stefanie Jones as Mary and Jack Chambers as Bert, reprising their acclaimed roles from the Australian tour. Both act, sing and dance with charm and energy, as well as all of the other cast members. It’s a phenomenal production and what makes it extra special is that at the heart of it is a gorgeous story about prioritising the people you care about and the power of imagination and having FUN!

So don’t miss the chance to see a nanny fly across the stage (beats bedtime stories any day). Tickets will disappear faster than a spoonful of sugar, book early if you want a practically perfect evening with the whole family.

Music in the North

10 fresh shows across Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, threading together noise, ritual, euphoria and release in all their messy, beautiful forms.
