The inaugural Liverpool Book Festival will showcase award-winning authors from around the region with a range of books for sale, signings, Q&As and workshops.

Taking place at Invisible Wind Factory and Make CIC, the new event is an opportunity for book lovers to meet and buy from over 60 of the region’s finest authors writing autobiographies, crime, thrillers, sci-fi, romance, comedy, historical, children’s books and everything in between. Workshops taking place throughout the day include poetry from Zonked and Find Your Flow with John Bullock. The festival is family friendly, with children’s storytelling by Wish Upon A Party and free children’s creative workshops with Helen Poole.

Special guests include acclaimed horror novelist Ramsey Campbell, Marvel writers Tim Quinn and Alan Cowsill, Sunday Times bestseller Caroline Corcoran, Amazon bestseller Conrad Jones, Beano and Dandy illustrator Nigel Parkinson, SAS author Rusty Firmin, celebrity chef Dave Critchley, life coaches Alison Blackler and Linda Baldvinsdottir (flying in from Iceland), punk star Phil Jones, Liverpool actress Pauline Fleming, comedians Gary Skyner and Stan Boardman, Lord Mayor Of Liverpool Barbara Murray, local broadcasting legend Billy Butler, and many other well-known figures.

Meanwhile, publishers attending include Canelo, Northodox Press, Estelle Maher from Tauk Publishing, Susan Westoby from Liverpool Books Online and “storytelling for success coach” Louisa Herridge, and bookshops such as Bob Stone’s Write Blend will also be at the event.

There will also be artisan stalls selling quirky and artsy products, street food so you don’t go hungry, live acoustic music from the likes of Primal Live winner Sam Leyden and DJs – and 20% of ticket sales will be donated to charity partners Builder Book and Inspiring Minds CIC.

While you’re down this end of town, head over to Open Eye Gallery at Mann Island 2-4pm for the launch of Chris McCabe’s latest book, Hedonism, complete with Scouse language.
