Featuring over 200 artists and performers, immersive arts experiences and kids activities, Kendal Calling is a great, family-friendly festival set in the stunning Lake District.
This year’s line-up is topped by indie heavyweights Supergrass, Stereophonics and Bastille, who are joined near the top of the bill by the likes of The Kooks, The Wombats, The Vaccines, The Cribs and Slow Readers Club.
For us, though, it’s the smaller names on this year’s line-up that draw the most intrigue. Working Men’s Club’s 21st-century take on new wave and post-punk is pretty irresistable, their well-honed, combative stage presence never failing to whip audiences into a frenzy. The same goes for Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, a heavy psych band from Newcastle who will bring something a little more menacing to the largely happy-go-luck indie bill. Fusing West-African funk and disco with modern post-punk and electro, Ibibio Sound Machine always bring an electrifying live show, while The Orielles mashup of extra-terrestrial pop, mid-60s psych and garage is garnering more and more attention from audiences and critics alike.
There are plenty more great acts on the line-up. Check out the full thing via the button below.
