Learn the basic techniques of gel plate printing using natural materials such as plants and leaves to create delicate pastoral designs. The workshop begins with a foraging session where you collect materials to create your prints with, you are also welcome to bring your own materials along too.

In the three hour workshop you’ll also learn how to create textures and patterned surface prints, there will be light refreshments provided as you learn to print in a laid-back environment.

The workshop is led by Sally Gilford, a printed textile specialist whose studio is part of the Salford Makers space in Islington Mill. As a Salford Maker founder, Sally is part of >thread{}, a collaboration which uses data processing and human biodata to create patterned imagery. As a creative practitioner, Gilford encourages self-expression and creative experimentation, the artist has been leading workshops for 10 years and the experience helps really brings out your best.

This workshop is a brilliant way of getting back in touch with nature without having to spend too much time in the cold.

Be sure to check out the Salford Makers website for more workshops, artists and find out about their upcoming projects.
