Be part of the highlight event of Peterloo 2019 – an ambitious programme of over 150 exhibitions, performances, screenings, workshops and talks happening across Greater Manchester to commemorate the 200-year anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre – with From The Crowd at Manchester Central. The free, outdoor, day-long event will include spoken word, music, choirs, chants and songs remembering all those whose lives were lost or changed forever in the ongoing fight for political representation.

Directed by Evie Manning and musically directed by the Dutch Uncles’ Robin Richards, From the Crowd is set to be a powerful experience. The eyewitness accounts of those present at Peterloo 1819 and the words of contemporary protesters and poets have been woven together to create a new piece.

Culture Guides

A busy image created using generative AI. The image depicts a man at the centre with grey hair and rosy cheeks, surrounding him are fairies that appear to be created in his own image with multiple limbs and unique bodily proportions. Around them are hundreds of vials, microscopes and dated scientific equipment.
Exhibitions

Across Manchester and Salford, exhibitions are thinking hard about how things are made – and how materials carry stories.

Theatre
