Prepare to see three brand-new adrenaline-fuelled dance works performed by an extraordinary company of dancers when Emergence Dance bring a dynamic triple bill to Waterside as part of the 2024 Emergence touring programme.

Emergence are the supremely talented touring postgraduate company of Joss Arnott Dance and the University of Salford. Demonstrating remarkable skill, discipline and stamina, all of the performers in the company are currently completing an MA in dance. Every year, the company works with guest choreographers to create three dance pieces. This culminates in Emergence Dance, a spectacular showcase of the company’s work and a highlight of the dance calendar.

Featuring the latest cohort of dancers and three new performances, the vibrant company will unleash their energy, creativity and skilful precision at Waterside this month.

Israeli choreographer Noa Zuk presents The Ladder, with new music by Ohad Fishof. Using a slick and stylised movement language, this new dance work is expressive, extremely rhythmical and is driven by the Gaga technique.

With a dramatic original soundtrack by Sabio Janiak, choreographer Miguel Altunaga brings Dogma, a new work that captures the raw physicality of the performers; a piece that illustrates their strength and virtuosity as dancers.

Artistic Director Joss Arnott completes this exciting evening of dance with Surge, a fresh reimagining of a work from last year’s programme. Expect to witness Arnott’s trademark, exhilarating choreographic language performed by the full company of dancers. Set to an electrifying new percussion soundtrack by composer James Keane, the ensemble will explore the interplay between movement and music, individuality and states of euphoria.

Artistic Director Joss Arnott told us, “The new Emergence triple bill for 2024 is a thrilling and ambitious programme, highlighting the quality of dancers emerging onto the global dance scene with work from internationally acclaimed choreographers. Audiences can expect an exhilarating dance programme performed by an extremely talented cast of dancers, featuring original new music and stunning lighting designs. It’s an event you don’t want to miss.”
