Eat Well, Do Good returns to Manchester this October for its third year, with the city’s hospitality trade once again fundraising for chef-made meals for people in crisis – families in temporary accommodation, women in refuge, food bank users, and parents staying overnight in hospital with their children.
The campaign is run by Eat Well MCR, founded in 2020 by chef Mary-Ellen McTague alongside Kathleen O’Connor and Gemma Saunders. The charity has delivered more than 170,000 chef-made meals across Greater Manchester to date.

The month opens early, with The Refuge marking its 10th anniversary on 26 September with a Ghosts of Garage party (£2 tickets, each funding a meal). October proper starts with SCRAN on the 5th, a one-day food convention bringing together chefs, farmers, producers and policy-makers to discuss Manchester’s food economy.
MasterChef winner Gareth Baty cooks a fundraising dinner at The Refuge on 7 October, followed by a Northern Quarter “fund-raving” night at Renae on the 8th, with sets from Eve’s Drop Collective, Chunky & Synna G, and Il Bosco & Metrodome.

Later highlights include a Negroni Safari across the city’s bars, a Dishoom breakfast service on 26 October, and a record-attempt pickle event at Track Brewery the same day. The month closes on 2 November with a dinner at Manchester Museum, created with Gorton Youth Zone and McTague, staged beneath the museum’s whale skeleton.
A city-wide raffle runs throughout October, with prizes from The Black Friar, Nell’s, The Ivy, Flight Club and others. The campaign is backed by headline partner Toast and longstanding supporter St Pierre.
