The award-winning Stockport Foodie Friday in Stockport Market has been invited to host the Northern heat of the prestigious British Street Food Awards on Sunday 23rd August, 12pm to 6pm.
Stockport Foodie Friday has been crowned ‘the best street food pop-up’ in the North West on two occasions at the annual Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards and it regularly attracts thousands of visitors to Stockport on the last Friday of every month.
This exciting collaboration with the British Street Food Awards creates the unique opportunity to spend a whole Sunday afternoon sampling some of the very best street food that the North has to offer from 20 traders picked from 3000 applicants.
A panel of celebrity judges will decide which trader goes forward to the National Final of the competition and you can vote for your favourite to be Peoples’ Champion! The Judging Panel comprises of award-winning chef Sam Buckley from Stockport’s acclaimed Where the Light Gets In restaurant that was awarded a Green Michelin star, food writer and creator of Filler zine Holly Temple and host of Sloppy Joe’s podcast and BBC Radio Manchester Breakfast Show, Joe McGrath.
As well as delicious food, there will be live music, street performance and children’s activities throughout the afternoon making this the ideal family-friendly day out.
The event is supported by Totally Stockport, Robinsons Brewery and the South-East Manchester & Crewe to Manchester Community Rail Partnerships who are encouraging people to visit by train.
