BGA2020: Smashing Down the Doors with Contact

23 October 2020 Tickets from £5 — Book now

Join performer, writer and theatre-maker Travis Alabanza for ‘Smashing Down the Doors’, a keynote speech which argues that the arts need to nurture the “un-traditional” in order to survive.

Examining their own journey, Travis will reflect on their experience of entering the arts world as a working-class Black trans person.Travis will use these experiences to discuss how and what art is missing when we shut the doors; what effect does it have on the artist when, during their whole upbringing, they were told they could not be one?

‘Smashing Down the Doors’ is happening as part of Black Gold Arts Festival 2020.
