Calling all young musicians based in Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside. Brighter Sound is once again offering an incredible opportunity to collaborate, create and learn with post punk trio PINS. Musicians who are working towards making music their career and are aged 16-24 will get the chance to spend five days exploring music, the writing process and the music industry with PINS. It’s a great way to meet artists at a similar level to yourself, share ideas and learn from those in the industry.

giving you the chance to step outside your comfort zone and broaden your artistic practise

PINS are singer and guitarist Faith Vern, Bassist Kyoko Swan and drummer Abbi Phillips. Their energetic performance is a breath of femme energy into the post punk rock world. With drum fueled big tunes and powerful lyrical content, PINS describe their music as a projection of themselves. They create a fantasy world for their own enjoyment, with the door left open for others to come join them and dance in it. They have also been touring and performing across the UK for around a decade.

Over the course of the five days participants will learn about PINS’ artistic process, following a song through from its first ideas to release and onstage transformation. They’ll then write their own material in collaboration with other artists, giving you the chance to step outside your comfort zone and broaden your artistic practise. There will be a chat with Elisa Aimi about setting up record labels and artist management as well as understanding music publishing with Anastasia Pegi. There will also be a professional photoshoot with photographer Debbie Ellis and a look into the power of a good press shot. To round off the week, the newly created music will be recorded at Edwin Street Studio and performed at The Met in Bury.

All this is completely free to the participants and will be held in person in adherence with COVID-19 government guidance at the time.  The deadline to apply has been extended to 11pm, Sunday 4 July.
