Salford will play host to a Christmas cracker of a show this winter. Packed full of childhood wonder and festive magic, the world premiere of Claus – The Musical will delight families of all ages when it opens at The Lowry this December.

Packed full of childhood wonder and festive magic.

Claus – The Musical is based on L. Frank Baum’s celebrated children’s book, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. With many of his works considered classics of children’s literature, Baum is perhaps most well-known as the author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Adapted for the stage by Simon Warne, this beautiful Christmas story will be directed by Kate Golledge. Featuring captivating storytelling, dazzling sets and a charming musical score, Claus – The Musical chronicles the story of Santa’s life. From a childhood spent in an enchanted forest right through to him bringing the miracle of Christmas to the whole world.

Claus – The Musical chronicles the story of Santa’s life.

When a baby is abandoned in the mystical Forest of Burzee, he is given to Necile, a wood nymph, who cares for him and names him Claus. Together with the fairies, knooks and ryls of the forest, Necile teaches Claus the importance of kindness; a quality that he eventually shares with us when he becomes the man we all know and love – Santa Claus.

Of the show, producer Katy Lipson told us, “Claus is such a special and important piece to me. It’s a piece that reminds me of my fondest memories of seeing a musical for the first time. When I first heard this score by Andy Collyer it inspired me to form my company Aria Entertainment so that I could one day produce it. I am therefore thrilled to finally be bringing this beautiful story to the stage in my hometown of Salford.”

Unforgettable and filled with joy.

Unforgettable and filled with joy, Claus – The Musical is certain to lift the hearts of all kids, big and small, this Christmas.
