Skipton Boat Trips

Like a snake through high reeds, the Leeds Liverpool canal drapes through Skipton’s centre providing a popular stop for canal boat cruisers and enthusiasts. Now, you can take to the waters yourself with Skipton Boat Trips and make the most of the town’s rural aquatic beauty.

There are plenty of options for getting on the water, the most popular are the one hour public guided tours along the canal. These run between March and October at various times in the day. Hosting you on this hilarious historical trip along the waterways, is Phoenix Nights star and award winning comedian Dave Spikey. His lighthearted take on the local history will leave you feeling charmed by the area.

For something special, why not try one of the mealtime cruises. You can enjoy a fish and chip supper, afternoon tea, a full roast dinner or a more boozy G and Tea canal trip. These extra special cruises see the boat teaming up with local restaurants, such as Bizzie Lizzie’s, to bring you the best culinary delights while you explore the area by boat.

If you’re keen to take canal boating further, Skipton Boat Trips also charters canal boats as well as providing self drive day hire. With the day hire, you have 6.5 hours to explore the waterways on your own terms and at a pace that lets you truly appreciate the natural beauty. Each boat has a seating area, a flushing toilet and a cooker to serve up picnics. The boat charters are for larger groups of 20 to 50 people and include a two hours boat trip with food and drink included. Check the website for more details.

Skipton is a great town to base yourself in while exploring the Yorkshire Dales, you can find more fun things to do, excellent places to stay and food experiences to try in out Skipton Guide.
