Morning Glory - Coffee Cup

Book now

We love our coffee here in Manchester. Staying caffeinated is how we get those city cogs turning in the morning. So you’ll be pleased to hear about Northern Quarter’s newest addition: Morning Glory. Having made its home in the lovingly restored Methodist Church on Oldham Street, Morning Glory feels cosy, refreshingly simple and very Manchester. The decor adopts honey-yellow tones, symbolic of the worker bee colour found across the city’s trams and buses. The diagonal flooring (if you know you know), channels the era-defining energy of the Hacienda.

Morning Glory positions itself as a grab-and-go spot, with just 12 seats inside and the majority of the space being dominated by the counter filled with bagels, tarts, coffee beans, matcha and syrups. Everything on the shelves has been brought in with intention. The coffee is supplied by Dark Arts, very well known for their vision of combining alchemy with coffee, founded in London but very popular with Manchester’s coffee drinkers.

Morning Glory Tarts and Matcha
Demi Sheridan

We recommend the Matcha, supplied by Manchester based Kyoto Matcha, mixed with your choice of milk and homemade flavour syrups (raspberry, Earl Grey or chocolate). Hot or iced, it works either way. With its deliberately compact space, ready-made snacks and fast service, this is less about lingering and more about grabbing a coffee, picking up a quick bite and getting on with your day.

Morning Glory Roast Chicken Bagel
Demi Sheridan

Speaking of bites, the in-house bagels are not to be overlooked. Piled with your choice of filling, brushed with garlic butter, re-baked until golden, and finished with honey-thyme drizzle, perfect for breakfast, lunch or an in-between snack. You’ve got grilled peach with goat’s cheese and chilli jam, roast chicken with smoked garlic mayo, or a veggie-friendly tofu and hummus. And if you’re peckish for something sweeter, we highly recommend Morning Glory’s take on the Manchester Tart by local bakery Vanillis. A thick cream and jam filled crumb based treat with a cherry on top (Seriously, there is a cherry on top).

Officially open to the public on Saturday 30 August at 9am, Morning Glory is throwing down a proper Manchester welcome. The first 100 customers through the door get a free coffee and tart! And, to entice you even more, three lucky visitors will land a golden ticket for free coffee everyday for a year. That’s your morning craving sorted 360 times over.

Moring Glory Zack Hipps

Morning Glory was founded by Zack Hipps, local foodie and TikTok creator, known for his videos showcasing all the best food and drink venues the city has to offer. Hipps says this venue is his ‘love letter to Manchester’ and we back him on that. Every detail has clearly been picked with precision and with the surrounding community in mind, from the choice of suppliers to the seating and overall vibe.
