Right where you want to be, in the centre of everything sits the Marriott Hotel. For the past three decades, this hotel has remained the most prestigious stay in the city. Having recently undergone a multi-million pound renovation, the standards are even higher than before.

To be branded a 4 star hotel, you expect the food to match. And it does. Marriott’s in-house restaurant is none other than Gino D’Acampo’s. Known throughout Leeds for its glamorous and opulent décor, the restaurant’s design focuses on soft oranges, light and dark greys and mixtures of cream and brown accents. The large marble bar is a feature piece in the open plan kitchen and dining area, allowing guests to literally see their food being prepared. It’s like dinner and a show.

You can head down there at any time of day and be greeted by the finest Italian cuisine designed by Gino himself – breakfast, lunch and dinner – they remain open until late. If you are feeling pretty full by now, no bother, head upstairs for guaranteed comfort. Every room is fitted with a large double bed, flat screen TVs, a work desk and a coffee/tea maker. Or if you want a luxury experience, book an Executive room and receive complimentary access to the lounge.

If you want to stay in the hotel at all times, that’s okay. They have a 24 hour fitness centre with the largest indoor swimming pool (in Leeds), a sauna and a very stocked bar for afterwards. But I recommend venturing out. The Marriott is right next door to the shopping district. River Island, New look, Urban Outfitters only a few minutes walk away. Or go and enjoy some of the Leeds Nightlife, your choice of bars and restaurants right outside. No need to call a taxi at the end of the night, just cross the road and there, you’ve made it.
