Housed inside a former textile mill tucked back in one of Leeds’ historic yards, Headrow House sits right on the busy main stretch but it doesn’t feel like it. Home to the award-winning solid fuel restaurant Ox Club, two suntrap roof terrace bars, and a beer hall showcasing four tanks of unpasteurised fresh Pilsner, it’s got a lot to give.

Venue extends out onto two garden roof terraces, perfect for sipping on a spritz on a hot day

In its ground floor beer hall, drinkers can enjoy freshly poured pints of quality imported and local beers. On the draught menu, you’ll find the likes of Amstel, Pilsner Urquell, and Guinness sitting alongside Yorkshire-brewed beers Faith, Kirkstall Pale cask, and Virtuous. It also offers three pint pitchers for the table, a large selection of cans and bottles, cocktails, wines, softs, and shooters.

Upstairs, a large 150 capacity open air bar and venue extends out onto two garden roof terraces, perfect for sipping on a spritz on a hot day and listening to one of the regular DJs amongst the city’s rooftops. It is also host to regular live music and arts events, , with live djs, gigs, comedy shows, and more on offer.

For foodies, though, its restaurant Ox Club is definitely the jewel in the crown. Specialising in live, open-fire cooking, it carefully sources the finest Yorkshire produce in order to create some bold, exciting flavours. Recommended by the Michelin Guide for eight years running, the restaurant was first established in 2016 and has gone from strength to strength since.

Expect to find artfully curated dishes that celebrate the very best of the seasons and the local area.

Serving up an a la carte menu of regularly-changing small and large plates throughout the week, expect to find artfully curated dishes that celebrate the very best of the seasons and the local area. Think Harewood venison kofta with sour cherry glaze and flatbread, crispy pig tails with gochujang and sesame, and a rare breed pork chop with tajin, pineapple & chipotle ketchup.

Opt for nibbles, a handful of small plates, and perhaps a large plate to share – such as the 1 kg Côte de boeuf with peppercorn sauce, and salsa verde. Then, if you’ve room, finish things off with a burnt Basque cheesecake, or a Baked Alaska.

An experience not to be missed, this fantastic restaurant inside Headrow House is one of the best in Leeds. The team here are proud champions of local and regional producers, with meat supplied by small family-run farms in North Yorkshire, fish sourced in the North Sea, and fresh fruit and veg from specialist supplier Wellocks.
