CitySuites II is a relatively new aparthotel, linked to the excellent Embankment Kitchen Restaurant and Bar and the sister venue, the original Citysuites. It’s based on that hazy area where Manchester becomes Salford, and although old school planning boffins might disagree, for all intents and purposes, it’s Manchester – or at least within an easy walk of all the shops and nightlife of the city.

A stay here is a luxurious experience, that proves without doubt that Manchester is a world-class city, with hotels, bars and restaurants to match. Expect cheerful friendly staff, smart fixtures and fittings and sky-high views over the city. For our stay, we were based on the 13th floor – unlucky for some, but not us, as this offered fantastic views over the city, particularly at night-time when you can see the bright lights of the North for miles. Press up against the huge floor-to-ceiling windows and soak up the urban skyline.

Most fun of all, there’s a sizeable 18m swimming pool, complete with steam room and jacuzzi. If you’re more used to the chlorine-heavy likes of Wigan Baths, as am I, you’re in for a treat. It’s the perfect place to get pepped up for a night out on the town, a space to wind down, or to get all those pesky night-before cocktail-infused toxins out of your system.

CitySuites II Aparthotel

There are 142 well-stocked apartments to choose from, ranging from studios up to three-bedroom apartments. Each has been expertly designed to bring together the luxury touches of a hotel with the space, privacy, and comfort of home. And if you’re feeling especially fancy, there are five penthouses occupying the top three floors of the aparthotel – the largest is a three-bedroom duplex penthouse that occupies 256sqm of the 16th and 17th floors, with a wrap-around balcony that gives breath-taking views.

After a night on the town, head over to The Embankment for the full English breakfast

In true CitySuites style, all apartments are perfectly designed to suit both business and leisure stays, offering anything from a one-night stay up to a year-long booking. For residents staying for the long haul, the team at CitySuites II promise the service and convenience of a five-star hotel, ensuring guests feel right at home.

There’s also a gym kitted out with state-of-the-art equipment and accessible 24 hours a day. Community spaces include The Lounge, a spacious open-plan area overlooking Embarkment West courtyard. As well as CitySuites’ plush Embankment Kitchen, CitySuites has opened its spacious Embankment Café serving a variety of speciality coffees, sandwiches, and alcoholic drinks. Our tip? After a night on the town, head over to The Embankment for the full English breakfast (or one of the many healthy options if you’re looking to keep trim). It’s a hearty plate, full of everything naughty and delicious and sure to set you up for the day.
