With fun, graffiti-style signage emblazoned on its windows proclaiming ‘great beer here’, this independent craft beer and spirits shop is a quirky and characterful Chapel Allerton favourite. With draught beer available to take away as well as innumerable cans and bottles, Caspars Bottle Shop is also home to a ‘tiny pub’ on Fridays from 6pm and Saturdays from 1pm where you can enjoy a drink on draught next door.

Selections here are vast, spanning international breweries as well as local craft favourites. Drinkers can find an extensive range of beers and ciders, with helpful staff on hand to guide you through your options should you start to feel overwhelmed. The shelves are tightly packed with classic staples as well as more unusual creations, spanning everything from hoppy pale ales to tangy sours and full bodied stouts.

A stone’s throw from the heart of Chapel Allerton, this little shop is dedicated to the selling and appreciation of craft beer and is showcasing some brilliant hops from across the world. The team has taken great pride in supporting local breweries since opening in 2018, but you can also find award-winning beers stocked from around the world – including the likes of Norway’s Amundsen and Denmark’s Mikkeller. The neighbourhood bottle shop partners with breweries to host regular tasting sessions, and it’s not unusual to find a party going on its the tiny pub on the weekends, either.

Founded by owners Eve Jackson and Ade Hunter, those heading down to explore Caspars Bottle Shop will discover handpicked bottles from house favourite breweries like The Meantime Brewery and Verdant Brewing Co, as well as choices from further afield. Those looking to expand their tastes are also catered to with more out-there selections, including beers from inventive Swedish brewery Beerbliotek.

A leader in its field, when Caspars Bottle Shop first opened in 2018 there were plenty of places in Leeds to drink great craft beer but not many to simply go and buy it. Today that may have changed, but the shop’s unique personality, culture and loyal client base ensures that it remains as much of an essential fixture in Chapel Allerton today as ever.
