Arts Bar Baltic is a creative-hub café-bar hybrid set in the Baltic Triangle district of Liverpool. It opened in March 2023 as a companion venue to the original Arts Bar on Hope Street, and has that same relaxed but fizzing-with-ideas feel.

There’s a good reason for that. Rather than plutocrats and LinkedIn ‘entrepreneurs’ (side-eye at Manchester), the founders come from the arts world. A collective made up of a musician, actor, dancer and technician, to be specific.

This means a grassroots arts venue that supports local creatives by day, that transforms into a bustling drinks-and-events destination by night.

It’s the ideal venue for modern Liverpool, and it’s just round the corner from Brewery Village – another vital part of the ever-growing (and increasingly less trialateral) Baltic Triangle. More to the point, if you’re passing by, it’s a great spot for a drink.

If you just want a coffee or quiet daytime pint on the plush Chesterfield sofa, the expertly curated soundtrack will provide all the low-key audio stimulation you could want. Kick back with a fanzine and enjoy the atmosphere as up-and-coming bands and artists amble through to the interconnected rehearsal studios and performance spaces.

In the evening, it becomes a destination venue, with DJ sets and live music. It’s also the ideal time to work your way through the cocktail list, named after luminaries such as Coco Chanel, Greta Gerwig and Bob Marley. And yes, the latter does have jam in it.

Arts Bar Baltic is a bar that supports the local arts scene without getting all worthy about it. It’s a fun, friendly space that just happens to host some of the most cutting-edge events in one of the UK’s most cutting-edge cities.
