28 years after Arthur Russell’s untimely death at the age of just 40, Above the Line and Super Electric are joining forces for a one-off night dedicated to the music and life of the visionary musician.

During his lifetime, Russell’s work failed to receive a mass audience, but now he’s widely regarded as a visionary and shape-shifting auteur – a unique and elusive presence oscillating between dub, minimalism, disc, country, pure pop and neo-classical.

The night will kick off with a screening of Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell. This film, a moving and absorbing portrait, uses rare as well as constructed archival footage and commentary from Russell’s family, his partner Tom Lee, his friends and closest collaborators, including Glass and Ginsberg, plus plenty of his brilliant, beautiful tracks.

Afterwards, Super Electric will play all of the dancefloor cuts from Russell’s back catalogue, alongside work he produced and the disco smashes that inspired him!
