North Taproom, Vita East Circle Square, Nobel Wy., Manchester , M1 7FA – Visit Now
Circle Square just keeps getting bigger. The start of 2023 saw North Taproom open, the tenth from the brewery and the very first in Manchester. It’s a substantial space, 2590 square feet (that 90′ is important), with seating for 100 covers and a decent outside area that overlooks the snazzy new Symphony Park.
A neat take on Aperol Spritz that’s worth a swig or three
First impressions are good. It’s a smart, stylish space, with cheerful chatty staff and the location is spot on. It doesn’t feel too crammed and cramped, or awash in car fumes like so many spaces in the city.
The menu is small but perfectly formed, but if you’re a beer aficionado you’ll find plenty to love. One must-try is the mango sour beer that blows all “beer all tastes the same” arguments out of the water, plus there’s a neat take on Aperol Spritz that’s worth a swig or three.
The taproom has 24 draught lines, including 18 lines of keg beer and one cask. We’re told that North loves a good collaboration, so all you lucky, lucky fermented yeast lovers can expect a wide array of guest breweries to pop up here and there over the coming months and years.
Food comes from Leeds-based Asian street food folks, Little Bao Boy, which has a permanent residency at the taproom. We had the pleasure of trying out a bao or two during a recent visit and can confirm they’re two thumbs up in terms of quality and flavour, particularly the mushroom-based veggie option.
Oxford Road has a wealth of places to drink, and thanks to the addition of North Taproom it has another top-tier option to add to that list.
