Visit We’re from Earth! at Left Bank Leeds to experience the painterly, slightly psychedelic world of artist Helen Dryden.

Citing the clashing palette as inviting the viewer to have an otherworldly experience with her work, Dryden is interested in the absurd, speculative fiction, post-apocalyptic visions, but also 80s rave culture, domestic objects and anything else that catches her eye and strikes her as odd or unpredictable.

The paintings in We’re from Earth! feature imaginary landscapes and their explorers. The use of extra-terrestrial elements allow the artist to visualise concerns about human use of land, questions of territory and the future of our species.

The café at Left Bank is open Mon-Fri 9-5 and weekends 11-4. The exhibition is in the Porch Gallery, which is usually also viewable outside these hours when there are events on at Left Bank – please refer to the Left Bank website to view the events calendar. If in doubt, please call the venue before travelling.
