With Trailblazer: A Toast to International Women’s Day, Salut, the independent wine specialists in Manchester are doing something special for International Women’s Day. They’ve put together three different cases of fabulous wines from all around, offering three, six and twelve bottles for the city’s wine-lovers. That’s great news in itself, and a fine way to spend the next few weeks before lockdown is gradually lifted, but this box of wine comes with something extra.

A must for those who are fascinated by wine and the stories surrounding it

As well as a donation towards the People’s History Museum Join the Radicals campaign (and access to a virtual tour of the museum and a discount for the shop), you’ll also receive a ticket to a special one-off virtual wine tasting and discussion co-hosted by Salut and the museum on International Women’s Day, March 8th.

Some of the most experienced voices in wine from around the world will be taking part, including the director of the People’s History Museum, Katy Ashton; Salut’s Sara Saunby; Jancis Robinson, the respected wine writer, and three talented winemakers who will be telling us about their wines and their stories. These three winemakers are Samantha O’Keefe from Lismore Estate Vineyards, South Africa, Marinette Garnier from Jaffelin, France, and Myriam Ambuzer from the Lyrarakis vineyard in Crete.

Together, these are some of the most exciting and important female voices in wine, an industry where women are underrepresented. Via Zoom, their stories will cover the entire spectrum of the industry, from production to sales and wine writing.

This event is a must for those who are fascinated by wine and the stories surrounding the creation and consuming of the fermented grape, hosted by some of the most important voices in the industry today. And while you sip a glass, you can think ahead to a late summer drink in an actual wine bar, fingers crossed.
