The Charlatans’ frontman Tim Burgess is spending the lockdown exploring his favourite albums. Opening that experience out to music fans around the world, his Twitter listening parties are a chance to unify in the appreciation of some major records, and to learn more about them via guest appearances from Britpop and indie royalty.

A chance to unify in the appreciation of some major records

The idea is that you start playing the record at a specific time, and Tim and/or the artist behind the album will tweet a track by track guide to the album in real time. So far, we’ve heard from the likes of ex-Oasis members Liam Gallagher and Bonehead, Blur drummer Dave Rowntree as well as members of Franz Ferdinand, Ride, and local lads Cabbage.

You can head over to Tim’s website for all of the details of what’s coming up next, but our top picks are Joy Division’s Closer on 18th July, The Lemon Twigs’ Do Hollywood on 20th July and Yuck’s self-titled debut on 25th July.
