We’ve all wondered what colour the dinosaurs were (some of us more than others) and now there’s a show coming to Leeds in November which explores this fascinating fact. What colour were the dinosaurs, really? Get ready for a brilliant family show that’s packed with science, sass and songs to hum along to…
Let’s face it, we’ve all accepted green, scaly dinosaurs as gospel. But what if Hollywood got it wrong (again)? This is where The Colour of Dinosaurs at Leeds Playhouse comes in, a toe-tapping, brain-tingling family theatre show where science and storytelling combine, and leave the old-school dino clichés in a cloud of prehistoric dust.
Join Dr Jakob Vinther, the palaeontologist who figured out what colour dinosaurs actually were. With five lively musicians and a soundtrack of catchy tunes, Jakob shares more about his fascinaitng discovery and reminds us that science is fun and also you can in fact dance along to it too.
But this isn’t just a show about ancient lizards and pigment cells. The Colour of Dinosaurs is a celebration of identity, from the cultural to the personal to the prehistoric. It’s a clever, inclusive exploration of who we are and how we express ourselves, all dusted with dino-magic and sprinkled with amazing music, too.
Commissioned by Unlimited and co-produced with Polka Theatre, this is a roarsome, accessible and unique experience for curious kids their grownups.
Recommended for families who love a bit of science and silliness, and aren’t afraid to question everything they thought they knew about dinosaurs, including the colour green.
