This April at Aviva Studios, Manchester’s dancefloor gets a queer makeover with Street Symphony x Red Rodeo Club. Starting in the early afternoon, this is an event where line dancing meets club culture in a way that makes so much sense, you can’t believe it hasn’t been done before on a larger scale. This ‘free to enter’ experience invites everyone aged 14 and above into The Social space to move, learn and laugh together. Be sure to book a free ticket in advance.

Red Rodeo Club takes line dancing out of its traditional honky-tonk context and plants it firmly in the heart of queer nightlife energy. Over the course of the afternoon, the hosts will take you through three routines, which are apparently easy to follow, set to some of the most loved queer club anthems and pop music favourites. From Chappell Roan to CMAT, whether you’re a two-step novice or a seasoned disco mover, there will be something for everyone.

Your host for the evening, Violet Blonde, is a well-known figure on the Manchester nightlife scene. Leading you in the dances is Shanika Sunrise, who manages to make line dancing accessible to everyone and anyone. All the while, DJ Klitbait will be keeping the soundtrack going with country remixes, club bangers and camp pop must-haves.

Go with friends or even alone, this is exactly the kind of event that turns strangers into friends on the dancefloor. Street Symphony has a track record of celebrating musical and dance cultures that are rooted in tradition and community. This Red Rodeo Club edition fits that ethos perfectly.

Line dancing to club music, what a way to spend a spring afternoon. If you love to move, be social and try new things, then grab your cowboy hat and book a ticket.
